Where in the world is Carmen Santiago
What the hell happened here?
Just yesterday I was in Canada living, surfing, relaxing... but now all the sudden I'm sitting here in Santiago International Airport waiting for my next flight to Copiapo. So much for surf blogging, and back to random work blogging.
I can't say I have really seen anything of Chile yet besides some truly massive mountains out of the airplane window, and this truly amazing Cafe con Leche I'm drinking right now, but there will be more to come....

Maui Wowie!!
The time to leave Oz was well over due, and i was on the hunt for an economic flight back to Canada. Of course I have my preferred carrier, so basically that was the only airline I checked.
It didn't take me long to discover that it would save me approximately $2000.00(!!!) if I re-routed myself through Hawaii instead of flying pseudo-directly from Brisbane to Vancouver. What a shame to be basically forced a stopover in Hawaii. One last glimpse of the tropics before returning to the Canadian winter wonderland.
I had never been to Hawaii before, but somehow managed to accumulate a few stand-up amigos there... Namely my good bro Brent, the soul owner of MAUI SKIMMERS. Some of the world's best skim boards, and apparently he shapes some mean surf boards as well.
I contacted Brent with little to no notice asking if he could shape me a new retro fish, since mine had over a year's worth of days on it.
I suggested he put a unique spray on it. Something hippyish. "Maybe some peace signs or something?"
Ask and he shall recieve...
5'10" x 20" x 2"3/4 - Work of art, and creator
I usually ride a twinny, but decided to give a quad set-up a try
No, no thanks... Tail pads are for hippies
This thing proved to go ridiculously well in the water. I've been using it in 1.5 foot up to solid 4ft+. A little more rocker in the nose and a pulled tail give it all the benefits of a short board, but the added volume under the front foot makes it a wave catching machine. The peace sign is purely used as a vibe deterrent... for those that can see the humor.
Finally, This was my condo in Maui. Luckily my bro let me park it in his yard. I woke to fresh mangoes off his girlfriends mango tree each morning.
Mahalo!
